Course: The Unapologetic Hero

Activity: Educational contribution / Supervising student theses, products Educational contribution Educational

Description

How do we navigate change — especially when it’s messy, complex, and uncertain? This method explores alternative storytelling models as a tool for navigating organizational and societal transformation. Instead of the classic hero’s journey, centered on growth, exceptionalism, and individual victory, we embrace stories shaped by resilience, self-compassion, collective agency, and humor — essential tools for navigating complex transformation.
In a workshop setting, students craft a personal “story hero” that reflects their authentic self, their reality and the challenges they face. These individual stories then connect to a challenge in the transforming world.
This workshop also explores how connection and collaboration help navigate change. By linking personal stories to a collective narrative, students develop a sense of shared agency.
In this workshop, students use a combination of creative tools (brainstorming, writing, and comics drawing) to draft the stories.
