Description
Recently Thomas Perry and Rebecca Morris published their book called “A critical guide to evidence-informed education”. In their book they problematise the degree to which educational research and evidence have yet improved the quality of education over the past decades. Each separate stream of educational research (from ‘what works clearinghouses’ to educational improvement literature) aimed at evidence-informed education is dealing with serious problems. They argue that the different streams of scholarship and types of research need to work more closely together if they truly want to have more impact. Additionally, they offer a map and framework that can be used to connect the different types of research and open up opportunities for synergy. Their book ends with a manifesto that lends itself for a proper discussion in networks of educational researchers such as WERA IRN. Especially for those who are interested in evidence-informed education.
