Description
In the Bible (Kings 7) there is a description of a way to determine the circumference of a round bathtub. The Egyptians and the Babylonians had their own way of calculating the area of a circle. Archimedes gave an approximation using polygons. In the course of history, this constant has been polygoned, not only with the help of geometry, but also, for example, with geometric progressions. In this workshop we will take a closer look at some of the early approaches to π. We will use primary sources and materials that can also be used for lessons in the lower grades.
