Description

The two-day workshop on future scenarios for the HvA Institutional Plan (2027–2032) focuses on testing and enriching strategic direction through speculative, scenario-based thinking. It uses imagined higher education futures (set around 2035) to stress-test the draft strategy and make it more robust and future-oriented.

The workshop is structured in two phases. The first day centres on analysis and inspiration, drawing on collected insights from interviews, external research, and internal sessions to map key societal trends affecting higher education. The second day shifts to creative construction, where participants collaboratively develop scenarios and personas—fictional yet grounded stakeholders (e.g., students, staff, professionals)—through narrative, visual, and playful methods.

Overall, the workshop combines strategic planning with creative and participatory approaches, using storytelling and speculative design to translate abstract trends into tangible futures and to explore their implications at strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
