Description
With the increased use of AI in almost any field of work, it becomes more and more important that technical professionals have knowledge and skills on the responsible development and deployment of AI-systems. This yields questions, at universities as well as in industry, about what (future) technical professionals need to learn about responsible AI and AI ethics, how they should be prepared for working with AI in practice and what’s needed to achieve that. This workshop, Teaching Responsible AI, aims to discuss these questions through an interactive panel discussion. The session will start with briefly presenting the results of two studies: 1) a study of how AI programs (BSc and MSc) at Dutch Universities (Academic and Applied) are paying attention to the broad topics of 'ethics' and 'responsible AI', and 2) a study on whether Dutch SMEs are interested in a course on Responsible AI, and what such a course would look like. Next, we will foster a discussion with panellists and the workshop participants on what’s needed in Teaching Responsible AI.
This workshop is organized by NLAIC working group "Teaching Responsible AI" Francien Dechesne, Maaike Harbers, Marieke Peeters, Birna van Riemsdijk, Pascal Wiggers
