Practical Knowledge and complexity in primary healthcare

Activity: Talk or presentationOral presentationAcademic

Description

In this presentation I discuss the background and findings of my exploration into the influence of increasing complexity in primary care on allied health professionals such as physio- and occupational therapists (soon to be published). Looking through the lens of practical knowledge, three questions arise: 1) how can we balance the use of practical knowledge and accountability without overburdening the health professionals, 2) how can we acknowledge the value of practical knowledge in the culture c.q. discourse of evidence and quality management, and 3) how can we foster the necessary change in healthcare while practical knowledge can also be a conservative power?
