The Professional Doctorate (PD) Day 2025 is a national event bringing together PD candidates, researchers, and professional partners from Dutch universities of applied sciences. Held on 18 November 2025 in Utrecht, the event serves as a platform for exchange, collaboration, and visibility of practice-based doctoral research across multiple domains.

Centered on the theme “Reimagining Urban Futures”, the programme focuses on how practice-oriented research can address complex societal challenges related to urban life, such as sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience. Through keynotes, workshops, and panel discussions, participants present ongoing projects and explore how their interventions contribute to real-world change.

The PD Day functions as a networking and knowledge-sharing environment, highlighting the role of the Professional Doctorate as a bridge between research and professional practice, and fostering interdisciplinary dialogue around applied research and societal impact.
