Supervising Design Project 'Rigged Roads"

Activity: Educational contribution / Supervising student theses, products Educational contribution Educational

Description

Supervising the development and conceptual framing of Rigged Roads, a game developed by Eva Burgering, a student from Digital Media & Creative Industries. The game is an educational game project presented within the GO Game Changers Awards at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.

The game is designed to help students critically understand how systems—such as infrastructure, mobility, or decision-making processes—are “rigged” by underlying rules, power dynamics, and constraints. By engaging players in a structured, rule-based environment, it translates complex socio-technical issues into an interactive format, encouraging reflection on fairness, inequality, and the hidden logics shaping everyday systems.

Overall, the project positions gameplay as a pedagogical tool for critical awareness, using simulation and participation to make abstract systemic biases tangible and discussable.
