Over the past couple of years several research studies on CLIL have been carried out in bilingual secondary schools. With the collaboration of CLIL teachers and their pupils researchers are able to better understand processes, outcomes and needs in bilingual education. In this presentation we will share results from PhD and MA research in progress and ask feedback from the participants. Topics include the role of the English teacher in bilingual education (Liz Dale), practices and perceptions of CLIL history teachers (Huub Oattes), experiences in bilingual vmbo (Jenny Denman), the use of Dutch in CLIL lessons (Anne Martens) and motivation for English and French in CLIL classes (Ard Elzenga). Recommendations for teaching practice will be discussed with the audience.
