Description
A special event for the FDMCI faculty to connect about and through storytelling, organized with Co+CB docents and featuring Babah Tarawally, writer, thinker, journalist, and author.Stories shape how we see the world, through novels, series, games, fashion, influencer channels, or kitchen table conversations. But which stories should we share with our students to help them become responsible and creative media professionals?
Event highlights:
•Conversation with Babah Tarawally: Babah brings the perspective of both an outsider and an insider, having fled Sierra Leone and built a life in the Netherlands. He describes himself as navigating two cultures, exploring diverse ways of telling stories that reflect on identity, humanity, and responsibility. He is also active in media freedom and civic society, raising awareness in the Netherlands and Africa around health care, integration, and social cohesion. He will be interviewed by HvanA columnist Suzanne Okkes, providing insights into how stories can guide students and staff toward responsible and creative engagement.
•Creative session and dialogue: Through short hands-on storytelling exercises, we will reflect on the stories that matter most to us and explore what constitutes the minimally necessary story “bildung” for our students, as well as how we can best shape it.
