Marco Kragten has been an associate professor at the Center of Applied Research in Education of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam since 1 January 2015. His research concerns the pedagogy of science subjects in secondary education. The main focus of his work is on how students can learn (better) with and from knowledge representations about dynamic systems. To this end, he develops and evaluates innovative pedagogical approaches and teaching materials in which the student and/or teacher is supported by digital tools and artificial intelligence.
As a senior lecturer, he guides students in teacher education in developing their pedagogical-didactic skills and subject-matter knowledge, mainly with regard to the school subject of biology. He is also involved in various professionalization activities for teachers and teacher trainers.
