Personal profile
Research interests
Viet works as a lecturer/researcher at the Faculty of Business and Economics. Bringing extensive industry experiences through positions in supply chains at Heineken, Friesland Campina, and Rabobank, Viet lectures on supply chain management and circular economy courses at Amsterdam School of International Business and conducts research in circular procurement in healthcare (2024-2025).
Viet has a BSc in Computer Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology, a MSc in Engineering & Policy Analysis from Delft University of Technology, and a PhD in Operations Research & Logistics from Wageningen University. With such background, Viet has conducted research in both quantitative and qualitative modelling of social-technical systems, with a specialization in logistics/supply-chain networks and processes. Topics such as multi-level collaborations, information sharing in multi-actor contexts, and harnessing the business value of data and information in supply chain networks had been extensively addressed in his PhD research. Viet’s recent work focuses on supply chains’ sustainability problems that require consideration not only to economic and environmental sustainability issues but also to social sustainability issues as well. Combining systemic view and the three dimensions of sustainability, Viet’s work in MODLI project looks at challenges in circular procurement of workwear in healthcare.
Viet is also interested in cold chain logistics, agrifood supply chains, and global freight logistics. Viet has contributed to writing a work package in an awarded NWA-ORC proposal by a Dutch consortium of research and applied universities on the topic of on-demand digital platforms for freight transport systems.
