Abstract

This study delves into how Dutch higher education institutions bolster the employability of international graduates for the future of work. These institutions' strategies and opportunities that equip international students with career readiness are pivotal for graduates' triumphs in the competitive job market. Within the employability framework, the research examines how graduates' ambitions and expectations influence their sense of preparedness for employment, often foreseeing a seamless transition into professional roles. Specifically, the study assesses the preparedness of international graduates for the evolving job landscape, with a special emphasis on the contributions of universities of applied sciences. Utilizing qualitative interviews, the study explores factors that enhance graduates' job market readiness, including the efficacy of employability support services provided by these universities. The findings provide crucial insights into the efficacy of employability support initiatives in higher education institutions and their impact on the career readiness of international graduates. Additionally, the research sheds light on the distinct experiences and anticipations of these graduates. These insights offer actionable recommendations for university administrators, industry leaders, and career advisors to refine support mechanisms. By aligning these mechanisms with the unique needs of international students, this study empowers them to excel in their professional journeys.
