Abstract
This literature study provides an overview of the current situation of the implementation of 3D technology in higher education and more specific in AMFI’s fashion education. This benefits and questions the way we are delivering our education and the content of the students learning process. The study primarily focuses on the influence of virtual fashion design on new design-‐‑ and making processes and the challenging new opportunities to work with other disciplines. Except from that, the implications of 3D simulation on the presentation of the designs of the independent fashion designer as well as the industry and the changes in the
traditional design processes and design thinking will be discussed. Finally, this research highlights the relevance of changing the traditional processes for the new generation of fashion students who already learned to work with this 3D technology, and describes their ideas on implementating and creating new fashion roles.
