Abstract
Het is een populair en veel onderzocht gegeven dat het principe van ‘soort zoekt soort’ een belangrijke rol speelt in het aangaan van relaties en het onderhouden van langdurige vriendschappen. Veel minder bekend is echter dat deze compatibiliteit ook een belangrijke factor kan zijn in het onderwijs en de orthopedagogische praktijk. In dit artikel bespreken we waarom gelijkenissen tussen kinderen en onderwijsprofessionals in etniciteit, cultuur en gender essentieel kunnen zijn voor het creëren van inclusieve en effectieve leeromgevingen. Ook geven we op basis van empirische literatuur tips voor onderwijs- en zorgprofessionals.
